For the sake of being humorous let’s just take this for what it is. We don’t need to go into specifics about all the other ways a woman is free (or not) because let’s be honest, I support the ways we are and I am not minimizing our experience.•This sentence resonated with me for several reasons….•Lately, Instagram has felt less fun for me. I felt like I was getting to a place where I was becoming overwhelmed and bothered by the frustrating new algorithms on Instagram, the fact that people are less likely to follow your account if you’re public, dealing with trolls who wind up on your page when you aren’t private etc., busting my ass and sacrificing my time spent with my family to deliver content from all my different accounts + our podcast and getting no where in terms of @instagram verifying my page.•I don’t mean to sound bitter, I apologize if I do. I’m a bit burnt out. •When you see Instagram accounts that are a few months old, verified and belonging to 9 year olds who are cussing, fighting and being disrespectful it makes a grown ass woman stop and think wtf is going on with the world.• So many big accounts on Instagram are doing this as their way to survive, to pay their families bills and improve their craft through writing, content curation with proper crediting, networking, making the public feel safe, cared for and informed & to ultimately improve the experience of social media. •I hope to see this platform improve (sooner rather than later) in acknowledging those accounts who have put in the work and should be at least considered an account that deserves verification recognition. •I find it difficult sometimes managing my personal space, emotional space, time, etc. when it comes to social media. I don’t want to fit into a box, I always want to be authentic to who I am and I want to focus on bringing content that feels good. This has been my objective for 3 years now since I started this journey.•I guess I’m just having a moment of vulnerability and being human. I hope you guys can appreciate that.•Thanks for listening to me vent! Don’t forget to be kind to each other & yourself ✌🏻❤️ @hipsobriety
